Ben & Jerry’s at The Shoppes Raises Over $2,000.00 for Canton’s Bravest

Canton, CT April 9, 2019…. Only Ben & Jerry’spremium ice cream could bring out crowds of people, on a day that brought rain, wind and even some early evening hail, for their 14thannual FreeCone Dayto benefit the Town of CantonVolunteer Fire &EMS Department.

Eight hours and 4,400 free scoops later, Free Cone Dayhad raised over  $2,000.00for Canton’s volunteer firefighters, EMTs and Fire Police. This brings the grand total of donations to the Department, from Ben &Jerry’sFreeCone Days – 2005to2019 – to over $27,000.00.

From Noon until 8:00pm, Free Cone Dayattendees enjoyed tours of: Canton’s Ladder 2; Engine 1, the Ambulance and Paramedic fly car. And, younger patrons enjoyed the company of fire celebrity, Sparky the Dog.This year, the Department also showcased two new kayaks, purchased for its Rapid River Response Team with funds raised at previous Free Cone Days.

As always, 100% of all donations from Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day, will be applied toward the purchase of new equipment and/or tools for Canton’s volunteer firefighters and EMTs, and to the recruitment of new individuals and retention of current members. The Town of Canton Volunteer Fire & EMS Department thanks community partners, Ben & Jerry’s and all thosewho donated for their continued generosity and support of our work.
