Canton, CT July 15, 2017: 2:50 am…. Nearly 20 members of the Town of Canton Volunteer

Fire & EMS Department responded to an early morning structure fire at 13 East Hill Rd in

Canton.

Upon arrival, fire units found the garage, detached from but adjacent to the residence, fully

involved in fire. Unlike properties north of Route 44, fire crews were able to use area fire

hydrants to quickly knock down the bulk of the fire, preventing it from extending to either the

residence or neighboring homes.

Fire crews remained on scene until approximately 5:00a.m. for overhaul and cleanup of the

site. No injuries to fire personnel or residents were reported.

Canton’s volunteer firefighters arrived at the fire scene on: Engines 3, 4, 6 and Ladder 2.

EMTs responded on Canton’s Ambulance. Firefighters on Tanker 7 staged at the

Department’s Collinsville Station for Town coverage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Canton’s Office of the Fire Marshal.
