Canton Firefighters Host Annual Community Jamboree

CANTON — The Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department’s 48thannual Collinsville Jamboree will be May 14-17, the department has announced.
The event is a fundraiser for the fire department and the town’s volunteer ambulance service. According ot the announcement, the jamboree will be at the department’s field on Powder Mill Road and will feature carnival rides, games along with other family activities. Food will be served and there will be a beer and wine garden. Bracelets that let people go on the rides and do other activities at the jamboree cost $22. The jamboree will run from 6 to 10 p.m. on all four days.
A fireworks display is planned for May 16 and on May 17 at 6 p.m. a firefighters parade will be held from the grounds of Canton High School to the jamboree field.
The upcoming jamboree is the second of two community events hosted by the firefighters in the next couple of months that will raise money for various groups and causes.
On June 14 there will be the Canton Fireman’s Blues & Brews Festival, also on Power Mill Road. The festival kicks off at 11 a.m. and tickets for that are $25 in advance or $30 at the gate. Proceeds will benefit cancer research and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, said department spokeswoman Sylvia Cancela.
The “Blues & Brews Festival is hosted by the Canton Volunteer Fire Association and according to an announcement from the group, 16 breweries will be represented at the festival and six bands will play that day.
